The following is a statement from Rep. Karl Oliver regarding the public firestorm surrounding his use of the word “lynched” in a Facebook Post protesting the removal of historic monuments:

“I, first and foremost, wish to extend this apology for any embarrassment I have caused to both my colleagues and fellow Mississippians. In an effort to express my passion for preserving all historical monuments, I acknowledge the word ‘lynched’ was wrong. I am very sorry. It is in no way, ever, an appropriate term. I deeply regret that I chose this word, and I do not condone the actions I referenced, nor do I believe them in my heart. I freely admit my choice of words was horribly wrong, and I humbly ask your forgiveness.”

The Republican representative of District 46 wrote the following in a Facebook post:

“The destruction of these monuments, erected in the loving memory of our family and fellow Southern Americans, is both heinous and horrific. If the, and I use this term extremely loosely, “leadership” of Louisiana wishes to, in a Nazi-ish fashion, burn books or destroy historical monuments of OUR HISTORY, they should be LYNCHED! Let it be known, I will do all in my power to prevent this from happening in our State.”

When telling the Truth becomes the subject of the PC speech police it’s time to recognize that The Republic is Dead and just pull the zipper on the body bag closed. I could have used the term pull the sheet over the deceased but some nut job would call me a Klansman. Hate to tell the haters, but I have been a Republican ever since I first voted for JFK [1st & last mistake] and since the klan was a Democratic invention I refuse to accept credit for the opposing parties folly. Wish we could educate the voters . I would have used a somewhat stronger response to destroying history. If the Facist and Nazi’s wish to settle this like Southern Gentlemen I offer pistols at 10 paces on the docks at Venice La. tomorrow at dawn. For your safety I must inform you counting to 10 is not my strong suite. I have trouble getting past 6. i.e. I subscribe to the theory of I Win- You Lose. Any Questons?
