Mississippi Senate Holds Hearing About Felony Voting Ban

A Mississippi Senate committee has held a meeting to hear concerns about the state’s lifetime voting ban for felons convicted of certain crimes.

WLBT-TV reported Friday that Senate Judiciary B committee heard from several people living with the ban. Mississippi is one of several states that impose a lifetime voting ban on people convicted of some or all felonies. Mississippi imposes the lifetime voting ban for those convicted of “disenfranchising crimes,” which range from larceny to murder.
