A Desoto County State House Representative will make an announcement Tuesday, December 11. Robert Foster’s announcement begins at 5:00.

The event will be held at 2467 Memphis Street in Hernando, MS. At the venue 1 Memphis Street Foster is expected to announce his bid for Governor.

Foster, 35, has been posting to social media since late last week with pointed questions suggesting he would make a run at governor. He owns and operates Cedar Hill, an agritourism business.

Foster told Desoto Times Tribune reporter Robert Lee Long:

“I am a conservative Republican. I am tough on liberals and progressives but I understand that there needs to be a discussion of the issues. I want to listen to people of all political backgrounds. There are things that we all have in common. We all need affordable healthcare. We have to help our schools. Our schools are struggling. I want to give people another option in the Republican primary. That is my goal and my intention. I’m not running against anybody.”

Currently only one other Republican has declared, Mayor Hal Marx of Petal. Lt. Governor Tate Reeves is expected to announce his candidacy sometime next month.
