‘MS still has the lowest per capita personal income, just as it has for nearly 90-years, and an abysmally low labor force participation rate (LFPR). It’s lower today, in fact, than in 1976, which was during one of the worst economic depressions in US history.’

What? This isn’t news?

It is to Governor Phil Bryant.

Should he win election in November, Chris McDaniel would be perhaps the freest and most independent member of the US Senate.. McDaniel will owe them nothing! He will only owe the people of the state of Mississippi who hired him as their man in the US Senate. And this is how the system was supposed to work in the first place, before US elections were awash in cash.

One of the traveling Vietnam walls made an appearance this weekend in Flora, Mississippi. Appointed US Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith was scheduled to speak at the event on Saturday, October 27 and to lay a wreath at the wall in honor of those who perished. Instead, she blew off the veterans to make an appearance at a “biscuits and jam” event in Union and a chamber of commerce event in Pontotoc.

As if this weren’t bad enough, Hyde-Smith didn’t even bother to notify the event’s organizers that she would not be attending.

Regardless of the position one holds on abortion, funding at least warrants concern over the fiscal irresponsibility of such a decision. Of course, the fact that a large number of taxpayers take exception with abortion being defined in a list of services as “reproductive health” should be the primary focus. A sting of several of Planned Parenthood’s providers in 2015 showed how the organization profits from the sale of discarded embryos. Moral concerns are only heightened by the cavalier attitude and lack of respect Planned Parenthood shows towards the most innocent of human lives.
