As long as government is controlling freedom under the guise of “workforce training” and “economic development” then Crawford should expect to hear a lot more from “various freedom movements.” I’ve been quick to personally commend syndicated columnist Bill Crawford when I felt he wrote a strong commentary on a particular subject. I have to say […]

Mississippi’s current level of dependence — in terms of state government and in terms of individual — prove the welfare state accomplished what slavery and Jim Crow couldn’t.

Wicker’s political handlers have outmaneuvered their own candidate, and again show how desperate these guys are to land their candidate somewhere–anywhere–where voters might already be.

If you are against putting the state flag in a museum Senator Roger Wicker has a word for you, unity. If you’re against taking down the flag then you’re against unity.

For legislators who actively worked to get the Mississippi Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act to the governors desk earlier this year, the news of Pickering’s project was a complete surprise. Leave it to Republican Legislators to finally pass a new law to introduce some efficiency standards that might “reduce the size and scope of government,” only to have another Republican officeholder inject an additional layer of complexity before it even gets moving.

For health care to go through the current route: falling ever-further behind the market-driven direction of history, riddled with bureaucracy and undergoing unending pressure toward the disaster of single payer. This is an intolerable result.

The failure traces to a lack of understanding and imagination at the top. There is no other choice: the repeal and replace must be done at the lower levels of society, by people with an intellectual comprehension of the stakes and the real solution.

COST: Republicans Lack Conviction To Reform Entitlements

What is needed is a GOP that is as committed to reforming entitlements as the Democrats are to expanding them. Democrats knew, in 2009-2010, that Obamacare was politically unpopular and might undermine their personal political aspirations. But many of them voted for it, anyway. Why? Because expanding federal benefits is embedded in the DNA of their party and is a central element of the modern progressive’s self-conception. Republicans have no such core conviction, and it shows.”

The only real option to correcting this mess is getting government out of it. That’s obviously not going to happen with the current crop of geniuses scurrying around under the Capitol Dome in DC. Removing government from the equation isn’t really a high priority for lawmakers in Mississippi either, no matter what they tell you. This includes the spineless Republicans who are more adept at spouting talking points on the campaign trail than they are finding ways to put those points into action that accomplishes the goal.
